  11.         --> 570 kilobytes of free RAM (or 500 kilobytes without sound).
  12.         --> VGA/MCGA/SVGA/XVGA graphic card.
  13.         --> Hard disk (4 megabytes for shareware version, 14 megabytes for 
  14.             full, registered version).

  26. Before you can start Teen Agent, you must run SOUNDSET in order to configure 
  27. your sound card.  To start the sound configuration program:
  28.         Switch to the drive and directory that contains Teen Agent.
  29.         For example:

  33.         Type SOUNDSET
  34.  
  35. ** NOTE: The SOUNDSET program only needs to be run the first time you play, **
  36. **       or any time that you want to CHANGE your configuration.            **

  42. Starting From MS-DOS
  43. --------------------
  44. Once you have setup your sound card using the SOUNDSET program, you're ready 
  45. to run the game.  Get into the directory where you have installed Teen Agent 
  46. ( e.g. CD \TEENAGNT ) and type TEENAGNT.

  48. Running the Game From Windows
  49. -----------------------------
  50. In all of our testing, Teen Agent runs quite well from Microsoft Windows.  
  51. We do, however, recommend running Teen Agent from DOS to allow the game full 
  52. use of system resources.  To exit Windows, use the 'File' menu in the Program 
  53. Manager and select 'Exit Windows...'.

  55. If you must launch Teen Agent from the Windows environment, use the 
  56. TEENAGNT.PIF as opposed to TEENAGNT.EXE.

  58. Running the Game From OS/2
  59. --------------------------
  60. We recommend that you run Teen Agent from DOS only.  However, if you decide 
  61. to run the game from OS/2, here are a few settings to try.  These settings 
  62. allow Teen Agent to run on our machines using OS/2 Warp.  Please note that 
  63. your results may be different depending on your version of OS/2 and 
  64. your specific computer configuration.

  122. Not Enough Memory
  123. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

  125. Teen Agent requires at least 570K of free DOS memory.  When you run the 
  126. program, it will check how much memory is available and exit if there is 
  127. insufficient memory to play the game.  
  128.  
  129. 1.  If you are using a DOS Shell, exit from this shell and run the game
  130.     from DOS only.
  131.  
  132. 2.  If you are launching Teen Agent from Windows and get a memory error,
  133.     you must exit Windows and run the game from DOS only.
  134.  
  135. 3.  If you are completely in DOS and still do not have enough free memory
  136.     to run the game, you must either boot your computer clean or unload some 
  137.     of your TSR's and/or device drivers.  We'll tackle booting your computer 
  138.     clean.
  139.  
  140. Booting clean using DOS 6.00 or better
  141. --------------------------------------
  142. MS DOS 6.00 has a special built in function that makes it very easy to boot 
  143. your computer clean.  When first booting your computer, MS DOS will 
  144. display the message "Starting MS-DOS...".  When you see this message, hit 
  145. your F5 key.  This will bypass your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS thereby 
  146. allowing your computer to boot without memory managers and TSRs.
  147.  
  148. Booting clean using a boot disk
  149. -------------------------------
  150. If you have a version of MS DOS below MS DOS 6.00, then you must create a 
  151. special boot disk.  This boot disk will allow your computer to boot without
  152. any memory managers, drivers, or TSRs.  Here is how you create your boot
  153. disk:
  154.         I.   Find a blank disk and place it in your floppy drive A:
  155.         II.  Type the command:
  156.                 FORMAT A: /S
  157.         III. Once the format is complete, you will have a bootable floppy.
  158.  
  159. Now, to boot clean from a bootable floppy:
  160.         I.   Place the disk in drive A: and reset your computer.
  161.         II.  Patiently wait while your computer boots from the floppy disk. 
  162.              Once it is finished, you must change to your hard disk drive by
  163.              typing the drive letter.  For example, C:
  164.         III. Enter the directory where you installed Teen Agent
  165.              ( e.g. CD \TEENAGNT ) and type TEENAGNT to start the game.

  167. Common Problems and Solutions

  170. PROB: I chose a sound card, however, the music does not play
  171. ------------------------------------------------------------
  172. This is a sound card related problem.  You have chosen an incorrect sound
  173. setting for your sound card.  You must re-run the SOUNDSET program and choose
  174. the proper sound card address, dma channel, and irq.  Please check your 
  175. sound card manuals for more information regarding these settings.
